The Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, is considered the mother of all football tournaments and is the largest international youth tournament in the world with around 1700 teams from over 80 countries. Every year in July, when the flagship of the tournaments rolls into Gothenburg harbour, the entire city is alive with pure football ecstasy for six days. With its colourful supporting programme, the Gothia Cup has also become a real institution outside the green pitch and attracts 25,000 spectators from all over the world to the Swedish port city every year. Tournament facility
The centre of the tournament is the Gothia Heden Center in Gothenburg's city centre. A total of 110 pitches with artificial, natural and hybrid turf in top condition are available for the Gothia Cup in and around Gothenburg. Since 2019, these also include the pitches in Alingsås, around 40km from Gothenburg, where you can play your matches surrounded by an impressive landscape around Lake Mjörn. Off the courts, the tournament is also accompanied by a colourful supporting programme.

The centre of the tournament is the Gothia Heden Center in Gothenburg's city centre. A total of 110 pitches with artificial, natural and hybrid turf in top condition are available for the Gothia Cup in and around Gothenburg. Since 2019, these also include the pitches in Alingsås, around 40km from Gothenburg, where you can play your matches surrounded by an impressive landscape around Lake Mjörn. The city on the Göta River is worth a visit and has a harbour steeped in history, many green spaces and a large amusement park called 'Liseberg', which is often visited by Gothia Cup participants during the non-match periods. You can also easily explore the city centre with its many small canals on foot during your breaks, as the tournament centre is located directly in the city centre. Meanwhile, some matches take place in the idyllic small town of Alingsås, about 45 kilometres north of Gothenburg.
